Title: No USB light and POOR telephone support
Post by: Bruce100 on April 04, 2011, 07:15:57 PM
Brand new Dir-825. I-net and email fast. I installed my HP Deskjet 2660 driver and the SharePort Utility in two computers. At first the routers USB light lit up and I saw the printer in the shareport program. Then it went out and nothing I do can I get it to come back on again.
4 calls to dlink support untill I got someone who I could hear and they hear me. Told him of my problem. he asked a few questions.  Then asked what brand / model printer I had. My network printer is an "HP deskjet 2660" I said. d links reply was he had to see if it was "an approved" printer. I think that was bull.  After waiting few mins They hung up. I was disconnected.   ???

does the USB light come back if you power cycle the printer and router?
Does the printer have a LAN port and support a LAN connection? How about WiFi? Just asking about this printer. Any details will be helpful.

If I shut down the printer and turn it back on.....NO router does not see it.      IF I unplug router, wait a few and reboot it, IT WILL SEE IT FOR A SHORT TIME. then the light goes out. I have changed usb cable from printer to router, no luck ???  I am running SharePort  Utility ver 3.1.0 r1

Is the USB settings on the router set for Shareport? I presume it is.
What light is going out after you power cycle the router?
Is shareport seeing the printer when connected to the router and installed on the PC?

What OS version are you using?

My pc is running WinXP Pro.
I suppose the router is set for SharePort....I'll check
if I reboot ROUTER...upon bootup....the USB light on the router comes on, briefly then goes off.  This stays on maybe 15-20 seconds. In that time I can startup Shareport and see the printer. but now it cannot see the printer.  When I first installed it connected with the printer.

What FW is currently loaded on the router? Has it been ever updated. Just asking before you do any farther. Do you have a PC you can connect the printer to via USB and then share out the printer and connect that way?

Brand new DIR-825...

I installed SharePort, and noticed that neither my OfficeJet 2110 nor a USB jump drive will cause the USB light to turn on, and of course Shareport does not see a connected USB device.
