I'm trying to connect a dir-615 (d2) to a netgear dg834 g router without success. I've tried diffrent config' settings on the d-link but although I'm 'connected'-'no internet access' Is there something I'm missing that needs configuring on either router. The d-link is on virgin media 1.00vg fw which I believe to be crap, it was my intention to use dd-wrt but would prefer to try standard first.

There a reason for using 2 routers?
It's preferred to run only one router. You could bridge the netgear if it has that option and use it as an AP if it has wireless.

I'm sharing a wireless connection with a neighbour accross the road. I cant see an option for 'bridging' on either router and although I can connect direct from my laptop, I cant get internet via the d-link
router even though its full strength? Any ideas?

How about using a wireless extender or relay unit to extend any wireless comming off the 655?
-
Not sure what a 'wireless extender or relay' is, but I think I'm wasting my time with the dir 615 on its original vm firmware. After reading the dd-wrt thread I think I need the wireless bridge repeater function, could you expand on your suggestion furry?

A wireless extender or relay is a device that can just do that, extend or relay an already setup WiFi broadcast. It can connect to an existing SSID and extend the range of the signal.
