Hi,
I have a DIR-655 router. Last week I tried to get my pc on a LAN connection but somehow it doesn't work. I have reboted the router, modem and pc several times. I hav updated my driver, I even reinstalled my driver, but nothing has worked yet. It's a normal ethernet cable (home made). I have tried my laptop on the LAN cable and it worked fine. I have had contact with Intel for help but they think the network card isn't the problem. I have posted on several forums but nobody seems to know the problem I got. When I tried installing the router with the instal disk it says I don't have an ethernet cable plugged in... But I can see I have and the light is flashing (when i put a cable in there is a light on my network card that flashes) see i guess it is connected correctly. Can somebody help me? I just want to play my games without the frequently wifi drop outs..
Specs:
Intel 82562V (Networkcard version 9.13.44)
D-Link DIR-655 (Router EU 1.31)
Stand alone modem

And trying a different cable aside from the home made one results in the same thing?
Does your PC have a onboard NIC that you can test?
Try a different offboard NIC besides the intel card?
-
I guess that my Intel Card is onboard so i don't have an other one to try. Nope I don't have a not home made cable :P ( because all are to short)
-
Its always possible that the onboard NIC has gone bad. You can get new NICs for around $20.00 in either PCI or PCIe configuration.
-
Yes but I read some sort of self help topic and I had to ping 127.0.0.1 in order to look if my NIC was still good.
Maybe I should mention that I have used a LAN cable on the same PC the day I had the Home-made LAN-cable. But that one was very laggy because it was one on the Electra Network..

How long is the cable? There is a maximum length of 100m for cat5 cable.
Did you set up any MAC filtering on the router, that will keep you from connecting too.
-
The cable is maybe 15m, nope i don't have an MAC filter.
Is a good thing to do just put it back to factory settings? Or wouldn't solve it the problem?
-
Factory reset is a good starting point for troubleshooting.
