My wife has an HP laptop running windows 7. when she opens a photo on her laptop , HP mediasmart photo software launches. At the same time , my DIR 655 router reboots knocking everybody off line until it comes back. It does this consistently whenever a photo is opened for viewing on the laptop. I have tried about everything I can think of but still cannot figure this one out. Is it Win7? HP? Dlink? all? both? I've tried defaulting my router and it still does it. I tried the latest firmware, no help. Arg! :o - anybody out there experiencing this ? any suggestions? - Thanks!
Jamie...

wonder if this SW has any streaming or media sharing abilities. Is multicast streaming enabled on the router?
I might set up some static IP addresses for your devices on the router.
Check the logs of the router when this happens. Any information there?

I set multicast on the router- no help. I already use reserved dhcp for everyone but I will try using static ip's and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!

When Furry says static IPs he is talking about using ther DHCP Reservations which you state you are already using.
Need to get everyoe to use the same nomenclature:
Static IP- IPs are hard coded on the systems itself
DHCP - IPs are received from the DHCP Server and CAN be random
DHCP Reserved - IPs are received from the DHCP will be same everytime.

I think I resolved the problem, or at least temporarily stopped it from happening. I found a firewall entry in Norton security suite (running on HP Laptop W7)and blocked outbound access to the hp mediasmart photo application. launched the app a bunch of times and no auto reboot of router at all. Tested print capabilities from laptop and all is good. Wife happy, I am happy! ;D ::)
Thank You all for the advice and tips.
Jamie.
