I've had my DNS-323 for about a year now and suddenly I have started to notice files becoming inaccessible. I'm running Windows 7 and Window Vista on my network.
If I right click the files in question and click Security, the only user that has access to the file is the Unix nobody user. I've tried using FTP to download the files but that also doesn't work. I can right click other files in the same directory and the Everyone and Unix 501 group has access.
I've done some searching in the forms and I have seen others having problems with permissions but it seems like those issues are related to folders or the entire device and not random files like I'm experiencing.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can access these files?

You could write a fun_plug script to reset the permissions.

I have this issue. sorry to bring up old thread, how do you write this script. I knew I should have just stuck with the firmware (1.05)that has worked for me for the past 3 years!! But I had to get fancy and get 1.09 and now permissions are all screwed!!

Apparently there is code in firmware that make disk world writable on reboot when it finds root folder to have limited accessrigts. See this thread http://forum.dsmg600.info/viewtopic.php?id=6227.
In short, somehow limit fileaccess on rootfolder possibly by using ftp, then reboot the box.
If this doesnt work, then I think the least risk solution is to install fonz funplug and fix the accessrights using telnet.
