Title: Worst wireless->ethernet throughput I have ever seen...
Post by: Sir_Brizz on May 06, 2011, 05:37:35 PM
Guys, I just picked up a DAP 1522 to server wireless to my house. I have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router right off my cable modem. It goes into the wall and up to my master bedroom. In there, I have the DAP-1522 in AP mode. DHCP is off, all the settings seem good to me, however any device connecting wirelessly has all sorts of problems. If I do a ping on the computer downstairs to the Buffalo router, I consistently get anywhere from 1ms to 3500ms to Request timed out. This makes the internet on that machine EXTREMELY flaky.

I can connect to the wireless on the Buffalo router and the internet works flawlessly. However, it is an a/g router and not a/g/n. Between any two moments on the computer attached wirelessly I can get from 10Mb/s to under 1Mb/s to not even able to load the speedtest page.

Any idea what is going on or what I can try to fix this? It's totally and completely unbearable!

Hey Sir_Buzz,

Check out the tutorial I just created in my post - AP/ Bridge + Tutorials.

I had the exact same issue as you did when I set my AP to Auto Channel select.  Once I manually changed to the channel my wireless router is using (channel 6), it went to unbearably slow to normal/fast.

Give that a shot and see if it works.
