Title: Lost WAN and LAN access
Post by: swissjak on May 09, 2011, 05:24:38 PM
I've been a linksys guy for a long time, but when I was thinking about a Gb device, the price seemed right.

So, this device is only a few weeks old (in my possession at least, bought from Fry's). The stock FW was pretty bug ridden so I got it updated to the newest for rev B1. For a few days things were working great, but now it seems to have taken a dive on me:

ONly lit LEDs: DLink and both Wireless.
WAN connection and all LAN connections are dark.

Connecting to 192.168.0.1 fails.

Worked with Road Runner, they confirmed the modem (recently installed Cisco 2100) is working fine.

Tried a factory reset on the 825 per the PDF instructions (hold 20 with power on) and no avail.

Any other options or do I have a lemon?

Is the ISM modem cable or DSL?
Can you access the routers web page and check the status on the Status/Device Info/Wan section?
Cabling in good condition?

New ethernet cabling, swapped out just in case. They sit behind by desk, low risk of physical kinks.

Cable modem. http://www.cisco.com/web/consumer/support/modem_DPC2100.html

And no access to the login/status page at all.

ok, how is the network set up on the PC your connected to the router? I presume your direct into the router?
The pc should be auto obtain IP/DNS addressing not static.
Can you open a command box and ping the routers IP address?
Are you getting any status on the PC networking?

If you have changed *nothing* in the DIR-825 for a few days, still it went "belly-up", I'd check the following:
