Good Day!
a friend of mine(from the US) gave me this router.
i am currently living here in the Philippines. and as I check my router's homepage, it gives me
Product Page: DIR-655
Hardware Version: A3
Firmware Version: 1.21
when I go to tools>firmware and check for the latest version, I get
Current Firmware Version : 1.21
Current Firmware Date : 2008/10/09
This firmware is the latest version.
I don't experience problems using this firmware but I think it's outdated because most of the users in the forum uses new firmwares.
where can I download firmware that is suitable for my router?? and is it risky?
should i download from the D-Link Philippines website? (the router was not bought here) http://www.dlink.com.ph/support/support_detail.asp (http://www.dlink.com.ph/support/support_detail.asp)
or North America Firmwares should work fine on my router?
:o

I recommend keeping the current loaded FW version if you are not experiencing any problems with the router. You won't be gaining or loosing anything by doing a FW update.
Yes if you need to I would use the site located near you to get updates.
I see v1.30 is the latest FW at your location.

can i use the firmware of north america instead? 1.35NA??
my router was given to me by a friend from the US. should i still download firmware from the D-link Philippines page???

I recommend loading FW located in the Philippines and not the one for NA. I recommend keeping what is already loaded on the router if you are not experiencing any problems at this time.

ok. thanks for the reply :)

this is stated on the D-Link page Philippines FW update:
Do NOT upgrade your device with these firmware if you have purchased a D-Link product out of South East Asia.

It's probable that the router you got from your friend from the U.S. would use the NA firmwares on the U.S. site then. Again, if your not experiencing any issues. Keep whats loaded.
