Title: Cannot Upgrade Firmware
Post by: davenc on May 14, 2011, 09:13:19 AM
Have the DIR-655 Hardware Version A1. Firmware 1.00NA dated Feb 2010. When I try to upload ANY firmware update from the DLINK site, it says that it is not for that device or is corrupt.

Any help?

David

Are you sure about that date the 1.00 firmware didn't have an NA and should have a date of 2006 or earlier?

Here is a screenshot. If you study it carefully you can see that I have a 665 instead of a 655. I guess that makes a difference!

Thanks for your response, even if I do feel a bit sheepish. It's progress!

Good that you have it sorted out, looks like you are running the current firmware as the ftp site shows only the 1.00NA avaialable for download.

Called D-Link Tech Support. They blamed the printer for my problem.

Here is the problem:

CAN print to the printer when connected via ethernet to the D-Link router.
CANNOT print to the printer when connected via WIFI to the D-Link router.
If I substitute a different WIFI router for the D-Link Router, everything works.

When attempting to print from a Mac connected vie WIFI to the network, I can ping the Brother printer, but the Mac cannot connect or print. If I plug in an ethernet cable while it is "searching" for the printer, printing commences.

Sounds like a router issue to me, not a printer issue.

Solution: Buy a different brand of router. I simply don't know what else to do.

are you devices set up for DHCP reserved IP addressing on the router?
Is DNS relay enabled?
