Title: WiFi LEDs flash in sequence.
Post by: Cruzz563 on May 17, 2011, 03:20:40 PM
Just had a weird occurrence, wondered if anyone else has experienced this or knows what it is. For about 3 minutes the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs began to flash in sequence, [2.4-5-2.4-5-2.4-5-Both-Both], it just kept doing that. During that time wireless connections were unresponsive. When they went back to normal I checked the router and it didn't reboot or anything. This is the first anomaly I've ran into running the 2.05NA FW. Any ideas? I suppose its fine as long as it doesn't begin to be a normal occurrence.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?

Any router log entries during this time frame?

Wireless modes are G/N for 2.4GHz and N only for 5GHz.

Wireless devices connected are 2 laptops connected all the time, a Boxee Box (which wasn't connected during that event) and a smartphone (also not connected at the time of the event.)

The is a cordless DECT 6.0 Vtech phone in the house.

No logs unfortunately, I didn't think to save them when I turned on UPnP last night and the router rebooted. :/

What frequency is the cordless phone? Sometimes these can impact the routers wifi.

1.9GHz is operating frequency. It's been there as long as I've had the router, however, which is about 15 months now. This is the first time it has happened. It never happened with firmware 2.02NA, the only other firmware I've used.

Was there a reason why you upgraded from 2.02? Curious, can you go back to 2.02?

I upgraded to fix the SharePort, I have a printer plugged into it. If the printer gets turned off you have to reboot the router for it to recognize it again. Also to be able to use the DHCP reservation feature with MAC addresses not beginning with 00.

Like I said though, it's only happened once, and I just wanted to know why it happened.
