Title: DNS-320 and 3TB Drives
Post by: gregklau on May 20, 2011, 05:54:00 AM
Does anyone know if 3TB drives are supported or will be supported through firmware upgrade with the DNS-320?

Not yet, but a firmware update is forthcoming.  See the May 19th post on this thread: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=12977.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=12977.0)

Hello I am using 3TB on my dns-320. Probably with stock firmware. I upgraded my disks to 3tb and formated the drive using the gui. After a few minutes it froze. So I copied the partition  of my old 1tb disk to my 3tb disk using the parted live cd. A straight copy of the disk wont work because of the 2tb limit on ms dos partitions but if you create the layout using the gui on the new disk and then copy only the main partition from the old small disk to the new disk it will work. I figure I share this because I ve seen many people asking this question. This is a great machine. Lots of throughout.

If you upgrade your firmware, the DNS-320 natively supports formatting 3TB HDDs, utilizing the HDD's full capacity.

I think you got a lemon set, get it replace asap if it's still under warranty.

The NAS of course, all LED light should be off when device is shutdown.
