If I put 4 x 2TB drives into this unit can I ran them as 2 x 2TB RAID 1?
If so is it possible to take out the 2 drives from my DNS-323 which have been formatted to RAID 1 and put them into the DNS-343 without any formatting then adding another 2 new drives and then create a RAID 1 volume?
So in theroy I shoud end up with Volume_1 and Volume_2 both RAID 1 with a total of 2TB for each volume

The DNS-323 and DNS-343 use different format structures, so I don't think it's possible to migrate drives between the two units without formatting.

If I'm reading your question correctly, you're looking for RAID 0+1 (two RAID 0 arrays that mirror each other). From what I know about the DNS-343, the unit does not support this disk structure. You can create two RAID 1 arrays where: HDD1 mirrors HDD2 and HDD3 mirrors HDD4.

I think you mean 2 RAID 1 Arrays (not "2 RAID 1 volumes") which equates to four volumes.
- 1st RAID 1 Array: HDD1 mirrors HDD2 (Volumes 1 and 2)
- 2nd RAID 1 Array: HDD3 mirrors HDD4 (Volumes 3 and 4)
If this is what you mean, then yes, the DNS-343 can support this type of formatting.
