how are you connected to the router?
What is your ISP service? Cable or DSL?
What is your ISP modem? Stand alone or built in?

Try setting up reserved IP addresses on the router for your devices?

Wireless and Wired. (different pc's but also tried wired on problem laptop)
Roadrunner(Cable)
Voip cable modem, standalone
Did set up reserved and some out of DHCP range

Its not my setup, its the router/firmware, downgraded back to my WRT54G2 with the exact same settings and haven't had a problem since.

I suppose I'm not new to the whole networking thing, I know the in's and outs of basic networking and have successfully setup many home networks.

I'm hopping this is fixed with future firmware updates, from what I can see is it closes the port for UPnP after so long of data not being sent. I could be wrong with it being the UPnP since even with the ports opened it would still close the connection somehow.

What model is this VoIp cable modem? Its possible this modem isn't a stand alone if it's got VoIp.
Seem many issues with these modems and routers.

Have you tested uPnP ON and OFF?

Is the router functional or are you having problems connecting to other sites and applications?

Its a older Motorola surfboard, not sure exactly the model.

It is a stand alone modem, no inbuilt wireless router etc.

Yes I have tested with the uPnP off and on

The router does function, but with many applications needing to "listen" it fails to work. I've been doing a bit of research, it seems like quite a few dlink routers have my exact issue, and I know for  a fact its nothing other than the router itself.

I would probably suggest you try a different router as this router might not be compatible with your VoIP application. Not all DLink router have problems with VoIP.

I realize that the problem was not with your VoIP modem however is a possible cause that should be looked at when dealing with these routers. We've seen some issues with VoIP modems and using external routers before. And have been trying to get an understanding of your system. I do hope you understand that the 615 is a router and not a modem right?

Help us help you man.
