Title: Won't update firmware

My roommates and I keep getting knocked off the internet every few minutes on the router so I've tried a bunch of the tricks found here and am trying to also update the firmware.  I downloaded the newest firmware, uploaded it to the router and it says it succeeded in the update, but then after reboot gives the same version it came with.  Any ideas on how to update it?  Thanks a lot!

Reset the router with the reset button on the back of the router with a pin or toothpick.

Wait until router fully reboots then flash firmware.
