Title: Losing connection with 615 for a moment then automatically signed back on.
Post by: CrossFox on June 06, 2011, 06:36:43 PM
Like the title implies. This is for my friend, he will lose connection with his chat programs for like 2 minutes then automatically be signed back on. He says he notices no other connection loss, but notices that sometimes his streaming will lag or games will lag. His ISP is Armstong (?) and he's wired to the router. XP OS.

Whats is ISP service? Dsl or Cable?
Whats his ISP modem? Stand alone or built in router?

How is he connected to the router? Wired or wireless?
If wireless, what Wifi modes is he using?

Ensure DNS addresses are filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Ensure DNS relay is enabled if he has this option.
Disable Advanced DNS services if he has this option.

Can you get a make and model of the ISP Modem?
THere are some newer voice and cable modems that don't work well with external router. They have there own routers and having 2 routers on the same line can cause problems.
