Title: Dead Unit?
Post by: 007james on June 09, 2011, 05:05:47 PM
I purchased this unit March 1st, set up in raid 5 with 4 seagate 5900 green drives and it worked fine until this morning when i noticed the screen was off. I could not access thru network so I power cycled, screen kept saying booting, removed all drives then system came up fully once, shut unit down, re-inserted all drives and the unit has not come back since, drives in or out. I did try a reset as well. hardware b1 firmware 1.03. Does anyone have any suggestions? All help is appreciated.......

If you purchased your DNS-343 during March of this year, then you are still covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

Thanks for your reply JavaLawyer but it now looks to be user error, power strip issue maybe. Moved to another power source, booted fine, rebooted and power cycled several times, added all drives, array showed up, files are there, ran SMART test, Scandisk running now then I will upgrade the firmware. It all seems fine now...

Glad to here things worked out for you. It's always a painful process to wait for a replacement unit and temporarily lose access to your data.
