Do you have UPnP enabled on the Router? This is what allows it to appear in the Network Folder.

Is this set up working and functional?

I find that Windows 7 (with or without SP1) does a poor job of refreshing network assets, and even folder names at times. About half the time I open Network, I don't see my DIR-655 router or many of the network assets I know are there. My best fix is to close that window and open it again. Usually on the second opening, all the assets, including the router are there. There is no excuse for this lame behaviour. I had expect it to be fixed with SP1, and it wasn't. >:(

Might be something with the B models. I have an A2 and it has showed up in my Windows 7 Network Window from Day 1.

Check in the Network and Sharing Center, the Change Advanced Sharing Settings link that is on the left hand side. Make sure Network Discovery is ON.

i do not understand why is this happening. in dir-655 i did not set anything, except username and password to connet to the internet. nothing more.

The only other thing I can think of is the Computer's Software Firewall may be blocking something.
-
i do not have instaled any antivirus, firewall or other software. i have only system firewall which is in windows 7 implemented and is turned on from the beginning.
thank you very much for your help

I can tell you that my router appears in my 7x64 PC. I'm using reserved IP addresses on the router for all devices. Enable DNS relay, Always Broadcast thats found under the Setup/Networking. All other devices are setup for auto obtain addressing and ALL networking sharing options are turned ON under 7s network sharing features.

hm, today i had to copy one file over a network and what i see. the router is in list.
