Title: Wake On Lan?
Post by: themajesticking on June 14, 2011, 08:30:23 PM
I've been searching everywhere and I think I've tried every possible solution. I have not been able to get Wake On Lan to work from the internet. It works fine within my local network but not over the internet. I've forwarded ports in Virtual Server, Gaming, and Special Applications. No luck. My DLG-4300 is running on firmware 1.7

check out the DGL-4500 forum for WOL and see if that helps you, can't guarantee anything. Some routers just don't support it well

Thanks. I just tried that and still no luck. I really thought that would work.

Ya understand man. Just been told from reliable sources that some of these routers just don't support WOL. Take a look in the 655 forum, there have been some members there looking at WOL. Might try to PM the author of the sticky in the 4500 forum or others and see. Hope you might find a work around. Let us know if you do.

Okay. I've made some progress. I've concluded that it actually works.......within 1 minute of the PC sleeping. After a minute or two, the magic packet will not wake the PC. Period. From my research, it looks like it's due to the "arp cache"? Not sure but I haven't seen anyone post a workaround for this. At least I got it to work over the net. Does anyone know of a way to get around it?
