Title: Loses 1 hour, forgets DST
Post by: frankem on June 20, 2011, 06:22:38 PM
My Dir-655 sometimes seems to forget it is now DST. Just now the routers time was 8:07 but the real clock time was 9:07. This is the 3rd time this has happened and when it does it messes  up access controls. If it can't keep the right time the access controls for me are useless. You would think someone would make a router that works right. Clicking save settings gets the time set back to what it should be. How can I stop this nonsense.

Try setting the NTP server to Enable and the addresss of time.nist.gov.

NTP was set to enable, I was using dlinks time servers. Changed to time.nist.gov; will take awhile to see if it works. You would think Dlink could set up it's servers so they work.

I have been using the dlink ntp server from day 1 and have not had an issue with time.

I haven't had a problem with it either. Try checking DST.

Well, that didn't work, jut lost 1 hr again. Tried to log in to home server, couldn't because the router lost time and a policy was set to allow access only on certain times. Useless if the router can't keep time!. Isn't there any router out there that works right!

How is the TIME on the router set up? What time zone are you in?

"How is the TIME on the router set up? What time zone are you in?"

Why should any of that matter? I am in Eastern Daylight time. The router is set to Eastern Time, Day light savings time is enabled, and offset is +1 hour. NTP server is enabled and set to time.nist.gov

There really shouldn't be anything else. My crappy Linksys kept time for 8 yrs. This thing has lost 1 hr on 4 different occasions and its less than a yr old!!! The last time it also didn't know what day it was, on July 14 the router said it was June 24Th !

This should be a trivial, l straight forward feature. But is essential for access controls and anything else that needs a time schedule.

If it looses an hour isn't it apparent that the router is no longer updating time from the server, or, the DST offset is no longer applied or it has skipped ahead in time zone.

I don't know what revision you have and which firmware, but the 2.00NA firmware for Rev. B had problems with DST that were resolved with 2.01.

So how do you get 2.01 firmware, when I check the router says 2.00NA is the latest version.

And Just lost 1 hr again! So can't buy linksys, can't by Dlink, so who knows what they are doing and makes a router that works, one that works with all features behaving how you think they should work based on the manufactures description?

You can go directly to the web page for the router at dlink.com and select the support for the router model you have. FW will be listed there too.
