Hi guys,
I just got my dns-320 yesterday and bought a Green Caviar 2tb wd20ears-00mvbw0 in addition.
I am a bit disappointed with the transfer speed.
I bought the dns 320 with the belief it would give me a 25mb/s write speed and even more read speed.
But my stats are :
10 mb/write
8 mb / read
So I inquired a bit over the internet and as far it seems that it has something to do with
advanced format
that is applied in the green caviar.
So what my actual question is :
Will it be possible to enhance the speed to the 25mb/write
either manually or per upgrade or will it ever be so slow ?
Greeting, André

u using fast ethernet or gigabit setup?
-
Lol, thats it.
I thought my router was able to reach gigabit speed as a switch, but I just rechecked
it by connecting my dns 320 directly to my pc.
Now I have ~22 mbyte/s transfer .
Thank you for the hint.
Greetings André

8-10MB/s is the max for a FastEthernet (100Mbits) connection ;)
For example, using a 54mbps wireless connection gives you around 2.5MB/s.
Keep that in mind :)

thanks for this, thought my nas was being slow only getting 3.17MB but as you say this is 25Mb, so not too bad.
not really got anything i can hardwire due to locations so this imo is acceptable, it's read that matters anyway
