Title: Constant Lag and Disconnections!
Post by: BlondItalian on July 12, 2011, 05:17:10 PM
I'm getting so tired of this! This router used to be amazing and to be honest it better have been with the $200 price tag! My 6 year old $50 Belkin last longer. I haven't had this wireless router for a year and ever since I've updated the Firmware to 1.13NA a couple weeks ago I have been experiencing nothing but lag and constant disconnections. I've attempted to refresh, pulling the plug, hard resetting, even attempted to downgrade the firmware and couldn't! So I tried not to pin all the blame on the router and thought it could possibly be my modem. I've had Time Warner come over, replace my modem with a brand spanking new one, did a speed test and had a 27mbps download speed. I reset my router again and plugged it into the new modem and reset all my settings and now I'd be lucky to even get 5mbps wirelessly. I just disconnected while typing this and got a 'limited access' pop up. Really upset with this product and I would like some positive support from this nightmare.

What HW version is your router?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

I think i understand what your are saying. With the previous firmware you don't have any troubles, but after the update you got into trouble. Please contact dlink support.
