I have a DIR-825 router connected to my cable modem. The 2.4ghz constantly goes down but not the 5.0ghz. Our wireless devices will see the connection but we are unable to connect.
We only have one device that uses the 5.0 and multiple devices that use the 2.4 and none of them can connect.
I am currently running firmware 2.02. I also notice that the time changes and I have to reset the time/date.
I have tried rebooting the device, resetting the router, changing the network key, updated the time/date, renewed the DHCP...
I don't know why it keeps going down, why the time/date keeps changing, and why I cannot get the 2.4 working.
Can someone help?...

Try changing WiFi modes on the 2.4Ghz radio from Mixed to Single mode G then G and N if you have N supported devices.
-
thx, but I am kinda dumb at this... I cannot find where to change it...
-
Setup/Wireless/Manual on the routers web page.
-
i have tried each setting under
802.11 Mode
and none of them work.
The 2.4 goes out almost everyday and it sometimes will work if i reboot the router or change the time/date setting, and if that doesnt work, I will usually give up then the next day it is working again... But the 5.0 never goes out...
We have cordless phones but they are 5.4ghz...

Any other WiFi routers in the area?
-
Yes, i can see one to sometimes 5 in the area...
-
possible they could be interferring. I would try changing channels as well. You can use InSSIDer to see neighboring WiFi and the channels there using and put yours on what there not using.
After that, I would try the FW update to 2.05.
Factory reset, update, factory reset again, setup.

Okay, thx... I will try the inSSIDer.
I have tried to update the firmware, but get this msg:
"The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this Gateway, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.
If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the gateway may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a "user" instead of an "admin" - only administrators can upload new firmware.
The Gateway will not be reprogrammed. "
I reset the router to factory defaults, and tried to upload the firmware again, but i still get the same error...

The file you downloaded from DLink, did you unpack the zip file and then use the .bin file to update?
-
It didn't download as a zip file. It was a .bin
-
the inSSIDer did not show any other wifi networks in the area.. (I'm not sure if i was using it right)
So, I changed the 2.4 channel to 8 and it now works...
thank you!!!
