Hello all - new to the forum, and I need some help.
When copying large files from one machine to another, I get speeds around 5-600Kbps according to the statistics-screen. Windows 7 shows around 3MB/second (18-19Mbps).
Okay, I don't mind if the DIR-685 Statistics shows the wrong speed, but I would expect faster wireless speed.
Have tried all kinds of settings in the Wireless setup, but the results are the same. Tried with two different laptops. The original file resides on a 2011 SBS Server, but when trying to copy to/from a XP-machine, the speed/results are the same.
Now running wireless in mixed b/g/n mode with auto channel select. Upgraded it to the latest firmware (2.01) - never got around to measure the speeds with the original FW (1.0).
Anyone?

Try single mode G or N then Mixed G and N if your devices support N mode.
Try with and with out security to test, Preferred is WPA2 and AES.
Just be aware that connections speeds don't mean that you'll get the same xfer speeds between devices.
At most, on single mode N at 5Ghz, most I usually see is 10-20Mb per sec on file xfers on my Mac Book from my Windows 7 server thats wired.

Tried single mode B, G and N with the same results. Also tested with and without security.
Tested against wired SBS2011 and XP machines from two different N mode laptops (Thinkpad x201 and Macbook Air).
I'll test with my old DIR-655, just to get figures from that. If the speed is significant higher, I'll return my DIR-685.

I get expected speed with my DIR-655, but not with my DIR-685. Other than the display, it doesn't give me more value and I will therefore return it to the dealer.

Ok. Good luck with the 655. You should enjoy it. Keep us posted in the 655 forum if you need any help.
