Title: UPnP problems - no MP4 and FLV support, alphabetical order
Post by: stephen5 on July 22, 2011, 01:39:00 AM
is the UPnP AV Server on the DNS-320 compatible with mp4 and flv formats?  My Sony blu-ray player doesn't pick them up from the DNS-320 (it's not a Sony problem as it plays the files fine from usb drives).

There also seems to be a known bug with the alphabetical order of files, to be fixed with a firmware upgrade.  When will this upgrade be released?  In the meantime, will downgrading the firmware to 1.00 fix both these problems?  Cheers

I think you'll find it is a problem with your bluray player. Most DNLA bluray players have issues playing certain files over a DNLA connection, even if they work fine from a USB flash drive.

The NAS box only streams the files to the media device, it is not responsible for play back or encoding or decoding of media.

you're absolutely correct, many thanks.  Sony have restricted certain formats, including flv and mp4, for DNLA.  However, I found that renaming the files to *.avi enabled me to play them all via DNLA.
