Title: Unable to Connect Cameras
Post by: drumdave on July 22, 2011, 08:20:03 AM
I have installed two 930L cameras which work fine via mydlink. When I attempt to connect them to D-View Cam 3.11 they fail to connect or will not stay connected.
I first tried connecting to the router with both cameras in the same room as the router. One will connect and stay connected but the other will connect and freeze or not connect at all. If I move the GOOD camera out of the room, it will not connect.
Do I have a router issue? I am using Verizon FIOS with their supplied router (Actiontec, I think). My wireless laptop connects but signal strength is never 5 bars.
I plan to try moving the router to another location in the room to see if that helps the issue. Any other thoughts? Telephone support from DLINK was no help.
Thanks in advance.

I use a free application called iSpy (http://www.ispyconnect.com/download.aspx) to view cameras in-network. The application is much more versatile and user friendly than D-View Cam.  In any case, you can use this application as a test to see if you can instantiate a persistent connection to two cameras simultaneously.

The problem I found with iSpy, is that the 'older' cameras can only do jpeg-streaming, which is much lower quality than the 'native' mjpeg.

I am assuming both cameras are connected running wireless? You might check your local Wifi 'crowding' if connecting wireless. Could be somebody nearby is using same frequency-range/spectrum. Take a wifi-box and check what's going on near you (Windows INSSIDER, Android Wifi Analyzer, ...). You might find your preferred channel is near/on used channels in your neighbourhood.

Especially also check the final location where you want to put the camera.

I noticed on my camera's that they should not be too near to each other, as they interfere with each other.
