Title: DIR-855 emergency flashing mode ?
Post by: RolF2 on July 24, 2011, 10:08:05 AM
Hi,

I can't find any info if there's any emergency flashing mode in DIR-855 (tftp, restoration tool or something else) ? What if firmware upgrade gone wrong ? Power outage in firmware upgrading process or something like that ?  I can't believe that I'm only one who asking this question, but i can't find answer to my question ...

Thanks,
RolF

Unbelievable. There is no backdor to recover from failed firmware update ? Or I'm asking something stupid ? All customers around the world are upgrading / downgrading firmwares and no one had failed flashing process ? Excellent router then I must say . :)

Thanks,
RolF

Any flashing of the router probably has to be handled by the mfr. Only some other Dlink routers support flashing like WRT. The 855 doesn't support this. I recommend this, if the router works well for you out of the box, let leave it. Theres no need for FW update unless you really have problems and have trouble shot the problems before hand.
