Title: Need help from the pros.

I live in southeast Missouri and have AT&T dsl my 4500 worked fine with the 2wire but a power surge killed it. I now have a netgear n300 modem/router/wireless combo. And have had no luck what so ever getting it to work again. I even tried using the installation cd. I have a pc with windows 7 64 bit. Thanks guys.

I recommend bridging the Nethear DSL/Modem/Router as it has a built in router. It's preferred to bridge the DSL modem and use the 4500 as the main router and it's better features. You'll need to use the Basic/Internet/PPPoE settings on the 4500 and DSL account information.

Whats the exact model of this netgear modem? Did it come from the ISP or did you buy it?

I have att that came with a 2wire but it fried so I had to buy a netgear n300 model dgn2200. That would work with att. It came from walmart works great but I like the 4500 features and miss it dearly.

Well I would see if Netgear can help you bridge this modem if it can do that. If not, it's possible that the DMZ could be used for the 4500. I see there is a WAN Setup section on the NG modems menu. There should be a DMZ option here.

If you can't get the Netgear to work or operate in bridged mode. I would investigate finding a Modem only option for DSL. DLink has one and I think Netgear does too. Just have to find one.

What ever the 4500 was setting for an IP address from the NG modem router, you'd put in the DMZ. I would set up a reserved IP address on the modem router for the 4500 so it doesn't change addresses.

The ip of the router on the modem and the 4500 are pulling up the same should I change the ip in the 4500 setting and then put that ip in the dmz for the NG?

Ya, I would change the IP address, lets try 192.168.1.1 and see.
