I'm trying to do port forwarding on my DIR-615...first of all I need to be able to ping the router from outside!!! Nothing to do!!!
I did enable the ping options to allow request from WAN...still don't work!!
I removed the router and plug my laptop directly on my cable modem adapter and I'm able to ping my IP address (did put the same address the router had)...so, the IP is OK and it is possible to get in the modem from outside.
I did plug back the router, and still not working...I did some trick like enable all IP with the Inbound filter...give access to few MAC address that I have to give more chances to get in and still not working!!! >:( :( >:( ??? ???
Any ideas???

If firewall enabled or any settings in the firewall? Try testing with it OFF.
What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

All firewall option are OFF except UDP and TCP endpoint that are set to endpoint independent
Firmware is 5.10
HW???door is locked...will gain access later next week!!
ISP is Cable, stand alone, RCA but model?? door is locked!!!
DNS addresses are filled in
QoS is off
NO advanced DNS
DNS Relay is ON
All device are DHCP reserved
Wireless works fine...able to gain access to the web...but still not able to ping my router!! :-\
If I ping the gateway address it works fine...but the exact address of the router...nothing to do! >:(

How are you tring to ping the router from the out side? If your trying to ping 192.168.0.1 it wont work that way. Is remote administration set up for this router by chance?
-
Yes I'm trying to ping it from outside....but i'm trying to ping the address given by our service provider not a 192.168.x.x address.
Our setup is this way:
- We want to install industrial PLC with touch screen on an Ethernet network and be able to work with them from outside the office.
- That's the reason why we need to do port forwarding.
- With my PLC software I only need to write the IP address of my router with (example) port 9600...and forward the 9600 port to a given IP address on our network to be able to communicate with our PLC.
And for now, I'm not able to do anything from outside...
For the remote administration...no it is not setup, i did try without success!

Ya you can't use 192.168 addressing string to input from the out side. I believe you have use the ISP WAN IP address, which will be listed under Status/Device Info/Wan section. You'll need to port forward the port to the destination LAN ip address of the PC that your trying to connect too, i.e. 192.168.0.#. However from the out side, you need to use the WAN IP address, ##.##.###.### or possibly ##.##.###.###:9600 for the port your trying to access.

Exaclty what I want to do!!!
I'm a little dummy with port forwarding...
If I would like to ping the device on port 9600, can I try to ping the WAN address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9600??Will it reply???
I'm trying to connect with the dedicated software for the PLC and it doesn't work :-\ :-\ by using the WAN address and the fowarded port!!!
