Title: Phantom rings
Post by: Carr on January 29, 2009, 04:09:25 PM
Hello, sometimes when we receive a call there is no one on the line, then it will ring again and the caller is there. Any ideas?

Thanks,

CARR

Please confirm that you are running the latest firmware on the phone system.  If you are running the latest firmware, then we will focus on the service provider side by examining the service, equipment and how they are setup on your premises.  Please provide us with that information so that we can better assist you. Alternatively, you can call a dedicated Voice Center support line (1-888-404-6262) for further assistance.

We had this issue when we first installed our system, but only happened on 1 of our POTS lines.

Turned out to be a bad connection from the line to the gateway.  We re-terminated it and it worked fine.  It was very strange because once in a while it worked, but most times if a call came in on that line it would ring and you would answer, but no one was there.

Re-punching the line took care of it, it never happened again.

I am Happy to hear that re-terminating the lines helped solve the issue.

We reterminated our lines, and now the phantom rings occur when we actived the automated receptionist after hours. Any ideas?

Thanks

We too have set this system to have after hours auto attendant, but have not noticed any phantom rings.

Sounds like you still have a gremlin running around in there...

Is it one phone?  All phones?

It occurs with our operator phones.

Sorry for the delayed reply.  If it is you operator phones, then you still have an issue with your POTS lines.

I believe this is a configuration issue on the Receptionist extension. You have probably configured call forwarding on the receptionist extension to the operator extension that may be causing a loop. Please disable any call forwarding on those two extension, especially the Receptionists'.
