Title: DNS-320 temperature threshold vs hard drive operation temperature
Post by: ZeroGravity on August 06, 2011, 01:18:39 PM
It seems that the lower range of the DNS-320's temperature threshold is 65°C / 149°F.

But looking at some specifications of some 2TB Green drives (such as WD Green WD20EARS and the Samsung F4), their upper operation temperature is 60°C.

In a very bad case scenario, isn't this a bit dangerous? The drives will die before the DNS-320 will shut down.

so change the setting in system settings, job done

I tried. But the lowest setting it allows me to set is 65°C / 149°F.

The temperature threshold most likely referring to a combination of system and HD temperature.
