Title: iTunes Server - have i overloaded it?
Post by: t121anf on August 06, 2011, 02:29:40 PM
been using the iTunes server since i bought my NAS, no problem there, built the library without issue.

however i was unhappy about how iTunes displayed the files so i have just created m3u playlist files for all my albums.

i have at the present 782 m3u files, with approx 20,000 mp3s (as i say the library built ok without the m3us)

when i go to the iTunes server in application management the refresh is just sitting at 99%, on checking the box the right hhd light is flickering so maybe it is still doing something?

annoyingly i set the library to refresh nightly and i can't stop this as until the library is built.

has anyone build a library with more than this? am i just being impatient?

well it built the library, took a while but it did it.

see what happens tomorrow now as i was only up to S when i set it away, so now it needs to add T onwards.

Refer to user manual. Download the latest version if you're using firmware 2.00.

itunes server is a simple one.

turn on
set folder or use root (default)
do a refresh if a scan doesn't occur straight away
go to itunes on your pc/mac, in sharing you should see your DNS-320, click and hey presto you get all your mp3s etc

just a shame how it shares stuff is poor, no album art support, no folders etc, i had to create a playlist for every album, not the dns' fault, all apples
