A bit more information would be good if you can provide...What are you port forwarding? Application and how are you inputing into the router?

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Wired or Wireless connection?
What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2. Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Hello, sorry about that ill add some more information.

Hardware Version: A4, Firmware Version: 1.21
Bell modem, i believe stand alone
Bell homeworking moden - 2Wire 2701 modem

I have a laptop and switch between wired and wireless connection
All firewalls are turned off
I believe we have a WPA2
I have my blackberry, and iPad connected.
Yes 2 cordless house phones
Various wifi routers around the area

I will try what you suggested

EDIT:

When going to Setup/internet/manual no DHPC internet connection is filled out, that's dynaic i have a static ip
DNS relay was already turned on
Could not find advanced DNS options, may not be in the router settings

You mean you have a static IP from your ISP?
DNS relay was already turned on
Could not find advanced DNS options, may not be in the router settingsDNS options are unser Setup/Internet/Manual. Primary and 2ndary should be filled in, if they aren't, copy and paste them from the Status/Device Info/Wan section.

Yes, i have a static IP. I will add that in now.

EDIT: I just added in both primary and secondary.

This is my current portforward setup: (http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/Wasbo/Portforwardsetup.png)

Ok, it shouldn't matter if the router is set up for DHCP Internet Connection or Static. You should try and set it up for static and see.

And do i copy the missing info from the WAN section? I just added in the settings for static but ports still say they're closed

Yeah all done, problem persists.

Have you tried using just one rule and put the port numbers in a string sequence like this? 80, 7171, 7172?
I would also try using Virtual Server and see if that might help. If you do, disable the port forward rules temporarily.

Possible that you might want to update FW however you should have to. This should work with out doing that.

What are your current firewall settings set for?
Try Independent for both TCP and UDP.

Try setting up Application Rules.

Is this a web or PC game?
Does the game work with out any port forwarding?

This is a pc game called Tibia, the game itself works but i open my own server to allow players to play my version of that game so i need to port forward 7171 for me to enter, and 7172 for the public to enter

Have you tried using virtual server, Applications and QoS with these ports?

Hold up, the 2701 is not a stand alone modem. More to come

Check out "Allowing all Applications (DMZplus)" on page 41 of this manual.  (http://support.2wire.com/view/765/2701HG_user_guide.pdf)

Do you guys know if the admin password corresponds to any other password? I'm not exactly sure what it could be.

EDIT: Figured it out

I just realized that it was set to static so im setting up the Dynamic but what's the host name supposed to be? just the computer name like mine is Waseem-PC?

Yes. However I think having this router and the one thats built into the 2wire is probably causing issues with NAT. This router is unable to translate port and firewall requests and data traffic due to the fact that your 2wire is trying to do the same thing and data is getting lost in translation. This router expects there to be a global port open to translate and manage traffic. The 2wire modem/router is doing this already on it's WAN side, and probably handing off a private IP address to the 655 router in which the global ports are not available to use on the 655 WAN side to LAN side. Thus you port numbers you've entered in on the 655 are not getting out past the 2wire modem/router. How many LAN ports are on the 2wire modem besides the WAN port? 4 or just one? If only one, then you could put in place a switch to connect additional wired devices instead of using an external router.

I would recommend you connect your PC and/or the server directly to the ISM Modem/Router by passing the 655 router and you'll probably get port numbers working correctly. IF this is the case then, in some cases ISP modems can be bridged to effectively turn off the router portion of the modem, thus making it a stand alone modem and handing off a public IP address and global port function to the 655 router and thus all port forwarding functions will be handled on the 655 router correctly and no the ISP Modem. Be ware that some modem/routers can't be bridged.

You can check to see if the 655 is getting a private or public IP address by going to Status/Device Info/Wan section. If you see a 192.168, 10.0 or a 172 address for the WAN IP address, it's getting a private IP address. Preferred is: ##.##.###.### something starting with a 2 digit number, not 192.

I'm not that far advanced and didn't understand all that much but on my WAN there are no numbers starting with 2 digits just 192

Can you explain that?

Ya, your ISP modem has a built in router and your getting a private IP address on the 655 router from the ISP Modem. Disconnect the 655 router from the system and directly connect your PC/Server to the ISP modem then try your ports.

I would be surprised if this works. The default firewall settings "Unsolicited inbound traffic is not allowed to pass through the firewall" and "Strict UDP Session Control" in application settings. Also, no where in the manual does it say it supports UPnP. Not only that, but several sites say it specifically doesn't. To top it off, it has a pretty damn elaborate configuration page. Case and point, the manual is 132 page long, and has very little filler. I think he either better of using the DMZplus feature of seeking professional help.

Any chance of getting a stand alone DSL modem instead of using 2Wire?  :-\
Another modem/router combination that is not very user friendly and doesn't work well with other external routers.  :'(

Well I looked through this page. (http://internet.bell.ca/index.cfm?method=content.view&content_id=10768)

At first I saw the "High Speed Modems" and I was like cool, there we go. Then...I started looking at the manual. First manual talked about the TCP protocal..like it was new, then proceeded to show the modem interface in a Netscape browser. To be fair, it was one of the newer versions, 4.08, which dates the manual from 1998. So I took a look at the other modem..but stopped when I saw mention of hooking your modem to a rotary phone. Plus it didn't help it was only available in spanish.  ;D

So anyway, I looked at the 5360. That looks like the best standalone modem they offer on the page I was looking. It maxes out at 8Mb down, with no chance of upgrade since the ethernet jack is only 10Mb.

I would call them and see what the best standalone modem is they offer. Or if they allow for 3rd party modems you buy yourself. Or, like I said before, maybe see if they offer professional network installations?
