Title: Setting up DR-601 for Remote Desktop (with dynamic IP)
Post by: ltetzner on August 13, 2011, 08:26:26 AM
I need some help setting up Remote Desktop Sharing on my WinXP computer connected to WWW via DIR-601 router, and Cable Modem.  I have set Remote Desktop on the WinXP machine.  Have  Hardware Version: A1   Firmware Version : 1.01NA on the Router.  Is set up with a password, and requirement to enter characters to Log Into the Router.
  under <Advanced> have setup the following...Application Name = "REMOTE DESKTOP"
Computer Name (has the ip address from my  WinXP computer
Public = Private = Port 3389
Protocol = "Both", Schedule="Always", Inbound Filter = "Allow All"

What other settings are required to get this to work.  I have a proper ip, with DYNDNS.org and I can connect to the router and long in.  However I don't seem to be able to bring up a Remote Desktop window.  I am new to this so could use some help!
