Title: from 35C to 55C in 40min
Post by: nightshocker on August 16, 2011, 12:15:57 PM
hello. is it normal to have the 323 go from 35C to 55C in 40min. now that is its off state. i turn it on and in 40min its at 55C and that is when i have it auto turn off. i used to be at a steady 42C but now it just gets higher and higher even when doing nothing.

any thoughts? questions for me?

Did you verify the fan is running?  Turn it to manual on HIGH and see if you can hear the fan.  If you can't, then the fan isn't working...

Hmm...anything blocking the vents?

Is it next to or sitting on anything that is very hot?

Does the temperature ultimately stabilize?

Did anything in the NAS or your setup change from when it was steady at 42C to the current issue?

With heavy usage, hours of constant copying, and both drives working (Raid 1) I never saw a temp over 38 degrees with the fan running.

Wouldn't the temperature also be dependent on what hard drives you are running?  So one person's temperature may not necessarily a good measuring stick as another person's...
