I just installed this DIR-825 router and when I look for an available network the only one that comes up is the 2.4. No 5.0 at all.

Several things could be going on here. Firstly, do you have a wireless adapter that supports 5Ghz? Also did you enable the network in your settings?

From what I can see the 5ghz is enabled, however since I'm such a dunce when it comes to networks, I don't know if my wireless adapter can handle 5ghz. It's a brand new Dell xps15 laptop, and I've also got a Toshiba netbook that shows up with just 2.4. How can I find out if my adapter can handle 5.0?

Through Control Panel Device manager I did look at the Network Adapters. I've got several in a list as follows:
Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN
This one's properties under advanced shows 802 11n Channel Width for band 2.4 has 20MHz only selected
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
From my looking at it I can only assume that the first one, Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN is what I'm interested in and it seems to only show 2.4 Ghz in it's properties. So it won't handle 5.0 Ghz? Am I figuring this correctly?

From what I have read that card only supports 2.4Ghz.

Thanks.
