Title: Complete Newbie

Hi PPL, great to find the D-Link Forum Beta pages.  I hope someone can help me with what I am trying to achieve?

I have a BT HH3 with a lightning fast 35meg connection

I have a DNS320 with a 2GB in for starters (soon to be 2 x 2GB)

I have it all set up and reading fine from iTunes and can share files no problem

What I can't seem to do is setup FTP for external access?  I want to be able to access my files from the DNS320 and also set up a folder for friends access too.

I have set the HH3 up in Port Forwarding
I have set a DNS account etc

HELP! Where do I go from here?

This is more often than not, a firewall issue.

Try forwarding port 80 of the NAS to your router, and then try accessing this externally (use your IP address to do this, found at ipchicken.com) : if it works, then it means that the FTP server isn't running on the NAS, and so the connection is being refused. So in this case, check your FTP config and ensure its activated.

If it doesn't work, then this is a firewall issue with your router, and you will have to consult google/the manufacturers instructions for more help with that as it is not strictly a DNS320 fault.
