Title: MAC address

I was entering my IP address on the router settings IP (DHCP) Internet Connection Type and then I selected clone mac address, I saved and then rebooted the router and then my PC would not even connect to the router. I ended up doing a reset on the router and had to set up everything again.
IP address was entered correctly.

What did I do wrong and is there any reason to add the MAC address to the router?

you don't need to clone the mac address. Just let the router DHCP everything from  the ISP modem.

Next time, save off the configuration of the router to file. Then you wont have to manually type everything in.

You probable just needed to do a power cycle. Think of it this way, the Mac address is what the modem uses to know what it's connected to. You just the modem to assign the IP address it gave the router to something else, and it said no. Just like if you unplugged the ethernet from the router and connected it to PC. You would have to power cycle then too, so the modem assigned the new device a different IP.
