Title: Archive bit not behaving as on Windows

I have turned on the 'map archive' setting on my share. What is happening is that the archive bit always shows as on. I cannot turn it off via the attrib command or the file properties page. Worst, my backup software (novaback) cannot turn off the attribute on a full backup so the backup types of incremental and differential do not work. Any ideas on how to get the attribute working as I expect it?
