Title: Can't connect to other computers on network
Post by: astromac on August 31, 2011, 07:42:37 AM
I cannot ping, ssh or vnc to any other computer on my network. I have turned all firewalls off on every computer to no effect.

Does someone out there know why the router may be behaving this way? Using 1.23NA firmware.

How are you connected? Wired or wireless?
If wireless, turn off WLAN partition under Advanced/Adv. Wireless. Also turn off Short GI.

Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

I have a mix of wired and wireless. I had all of the parameters you mentioned set accordingly to no effect. I still cannot connect computer to computer by any means. Both can access the internet just fine though and as mentioned before both machines have their firewalls disabled.

Ok, have you shared out any particular folder or drive so that other computers can connect to it? This needs to be done at the PCs. This is not handled at the router level. Also each PC needs to be and is preferred to be on the same WORKGROUP or workgroup name.

They're not Windows PC's but yes, the appropriate sharing services are enabled at the PC level.
