Title: MAC and WIN7 connecting to NAS, but WIN7 is read-only
Post by: kmraj on September 05, 2011, 07:14:37 PM
Greetings,

I have setup my DNS-321 as SMB and disabled NFS so that my WIN7HP and MAC (Lion and Snow Leopard) can share the NAS.

The NAS is configured in the network and both Windows and Mac can access the drive and all of it's folders.  NOT the issue.

The root folder has 4 sub folders (Music, Public, Backup, Apple). Win and Mac users can access the root with full R/W access, but any sub-folder below that causes Windows users to only have R access.

I have gone into the security/permissions setting in windows and the security is set as "special" which is also the same security setting in apple.

I am not a unix guru other than knowing I want all folders on the NAS to have 777 access rights.  There is a unix group setting called 702 (unix\702-when viewed in windows), which (I think) means user full access, group no access, and other has write access.  But if this were true then I could create a folder or a file, which I can't.

HELP!

Thanks!
