Title: well i sure do hate Teamviewer - Skype me for help.
Post by: Kamikazi2142 on October 01, 2011, 05:25:05 PM
i'm setting up a teamviewer so that people can log in and check out what i got goin on, for help whenever etc.

i was trying to set this up to be on all the time, but appears i cannot do that with this program, any suggestions?

until there is a FREE program for me to publicly share my desktop view, you are welcome to message me on my Skype: Kamikazi2142

well, Teamviewer says its free, then says, buy now, wtf? lol, whatever

just skype me and i'll share my desktop, and you can see what i did where, and hopefully i can help you resolve your problems, FOR FREE.

Thats it, all of you who are saying "use Teamviewer to help out" i'm tired of seeing that site, i hate trialware, i despise it, would you people just get Skype already, it has desktop share in its video chat, just use that, its free.

am reserving myself on the fact that i know i may be completely misunderstanding this teamviewer garbage.  if anyone would care to explain this to me, then by all means feel free to educate me.

Not sure, what your talking about, both Teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/index.aspx) and Logmein (https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/) have free versions. For Teamview you want to use the full version on your end (the supporter) and the TeamViewer QuickSupport for them(supported). Logmein works too, but it's free version isn't really designed anymore what what were trying to do. It moved it's ability to send a join link to it's pay version. Still one of the best way of accessing your own network from work though.

I don't know what I'd do without Logmein. One of the key differences between the free and professional version is that the free version is constrained to adding up to 5 PCs and disables audio sharing and file transfer from the remote to local PC.

Another very easy to use app for screen sharing is JoinMe (http://Joinme.com/).

I installed TV full personal on my home and work PC and services are running just fine. I have several people on my computers list that I've helped and sometimes still talk with them on occasion. TV works very well for remote and live chat. I mainly use it for remote help.

from what i understand is that TV allows them access to your computer, from what i was reading on their setup it basically links you into a VPN and the stranger has access to your files... screw that!

Well one of the features of TV is the remote user has to be there to allow access or in they install it then they can specify access to different users or if your on the same computer group like I am, I can only access those PCs I've either set up with it, like my server and PC at home. Other users have to be there at there PC to allow access. TV works great.
