Title: Where is my P2P folder?
Post by: skuggan on October 11, 2011, 01:46:34 PM
Hey!

It's after alot of dispair and irritation I at last ask for help here.

I've updated to the latest (?) firmware as I hoped for some new functions in the P2P parts of my 320 but instead it seems they have now decided to make it (in my opinion) just a bit worse as they now have hidden the P2P folder.

I can find the P2P folder through the "Web File Server" software on the 320 and when adding the path in Xbox Media Center. But not in OS X finder or through Windows.

It bugs me to no end, as I need to move alot of downloaded files and at least reach them from my other computers.

As you can understand I have not been able to find any solution to this on the web or this forum.

I hope anyone has some good tips on this matter!

Thanks alot!

For the latest firmware (2.02b1), P2P folder will now appear as Shared Folder when it's enabled.

Hey Albert! Thanks for the reply.

I indeed have 2.02 installed but I cannot find any place to enable it as a shared folder, and it doesn't seem like it's a default.

Is it default as a Shared (and thus there is something else wrong with my network) or do I have to enable it somewhere?

Thanks again!

All I can add is that I have the same problem. Gave up and used Transmission but would like to get the built in working.

The moment you enable P2P Downloads for the first time, the P2P folder will appear as Shared Folder.

This is on our wishlist of firmware updates.  To either make the P2P folder viewable for UPnP paths or putting the P2P folder (and subfolders) inside Volume_1 or Volume_2.  The Interface tools do not allow us to select it.  :(

Would also like to be able to access recently downloaded material without having to copy it to a volume folder.

Ideally I think we should be assign the P2P path wherever we want it.

Happened to me as well and isn't shared if I disable and then enable P2P...
To (sort of) fix it, just go into Account Management > Network Shares and create a new share, you should be able to see P2P under one of your volumes here;

Select P2P there and you should be able to access it via \\devicename after that

Teaser....Are you in account management network shares or the "Applications" --> UPnP Av Server?  I have been in the UPnP list several times trying to share and it is not listed outside volume_1 nor inside of it.  I am trying to see it as a UPnP folder running under firmware 2.02b.

Please share some more about the enable/disable.  Maybe that is the trick, I did dsiable by P2P because my NAS could no longer download and stream video at the same time.  Files are still in the P2P.  It became too processor intensive to run P2P sharing and stream to a UPnP device.  The video quality became very poor.

After much Internet searching, I've finally stumbled (on myself) upon a cure on searching for the P2P folder.

Recently purchased a DNS-320L NAS. Updated to latest version 1.03b. Installed 2 x HDD which appeared as Volume_1 and Volume_2 when Windows network map (Explorer). I've made 2 x network map to the two mentioned volumes. Downloaded a torrent as a test and could not find the completed files although the P2P app shows 100% completed. Contacted DLink support but they offered little help.

While I was on the phone with the support guy, I found that I was able to do a 3rd network map as //NAS-IP/P2P and suddenly all the files appeared in front of my eyes !!! So be aware that mapping to the root Volume folders won't make the P2P folder appear. You'll have to do a 3rd network mapping.

Hope this helps someone else out there for it took me a while to find this information
