Title: Msg: Time Machine could not complete the backup
Post by: DanD on October 11, 2011, 05:28:53 PM
Greetings,

I've been experiencing an intermittent issue with my DNS-320. I'm using it for Time Machine backups and two or three times a month I get the following message from Time Machine:

-----

Time Machine could not complete the backup.

The network backup disk could not be accessed because there
was a problem with the network name or password.

Open Time Machine preferences to select the network backup
disk and re-enter the correct username and password.

-----

A week or two can go by before I get the next notification. There is nothing going on from what I can see on any of the other systems and the switch shows no signs of abnormal events (no collisions are being reported).

I am running the following configurations:

iMac4,1 2GHz, 2GB  OSX 10.6.8 with all updates

DNS-320 Firmware 2.0 - One Maxtor 6B250S0, 250GB HD

The iMac is connected to the DNS-320 through a Netgear GS108 Gigabit Switch. The switch also has the following attached:

 - HP LaserJet 2200DN,
 - HP LaserJet P2055,
 - Belkin F5D7230C Wireless G router,
 - a Linux server,
 - and an uplink to a Belkin F5D9230 Wireless G Router to Cable modem.

Has anyone seen this behavior?

Thanks...
