Title: DIR-632 Portforwarding fail..
Post by: JohnyR21 on October 12, 2011, 12:09:35 AM
Just bought this router, unfortunately it isn't working like my old DIR-625. The router wont allow me to connect to my opened ports. When I port scan, it says that they are open, but I am unable to connect to my services. Firewall is turned off on host server. DMZ doesnt work either..

Lets gets some info:
What HW version is your router? A1
What FW version is currently loaded? 1.01NA

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Cable
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? Alone
What ISP Modem make and model do you have? Motorola

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? Says 0.0.0.0 for both?
Turn off QoS options. Off
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option. Off
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. On
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Ok, dont think it'll matter in this case
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP. Ok

What wireless modes are you using? N, mixed with G
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2.
What wireless devices do you have connected? Laptops, printers, phones
Any cordless house phones? Yes
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Yes

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. Off
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.  Weeee

Huh after tweaking around, I found that I'm unable to connect to my external ip from my network. I guess I have to use my internal ip for that, any idea why?

What exactly are you doing when your trying to connect? I presume your Internet working well? What applications are you using?

Have you set up any Virtual Server or Port Forwarding yet?
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. This will ensure each device you have gets it's own IP address that ever changes and helps in trouble shooting.

Maybe someone can review your router settings via teamviewer.com

I don't know but I'm not liking this router. I'm constantly being timed out from IRC, ugh.
