Title: DIR-632 Not giving me a constant 300Mbps
Post by: JohnyR21 on October 13, 2011, 09:33:25 PM
Just switched from the DIR-625, unfourtunatly this one (632) isn't giving me the 300Mbps constant, more like 130Mbps. It cant be interference, because I actually just ran the 625 and it's giving me a constant 300Mbps.

Any ideas why I'm getting 130 instead of 300?
Signal % is also saying only 70% when my laptop is right infront of the router..

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Hello,

Have a look at that link:
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-basics/30664-5-ways-to-fix-slow-80211n-speed

The trick is to have only 802.11n network adapters in the network, else when a legacy adapter is introduced in the network , the throughput wil roll back to 54mbps.

Also,
encryption: WPA2/ AES
channel: Try setting on 20/40MhZ (in some location, the 40 MHZ setting can rather lower the troughput, sometimes)
See the link:
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireless/f/80211n-300-mbps.htm
Enable WMM in the router

Check your network adapter's driver options in device manager and use n mode only, and channel widh  identical to the router (available in Centrino adapter, maybe in others).

I hope you'll be able to solve that matter.

Regards.

Using mixed N and G, since I have 2 computers on the network that don't have N cards.
WPA2
Laptops, desktops, Xbox, Phones (droid, bb)
Yeah theres a few, not on the same channel though

Funny thing is that my DIR625 didnt do that, and even then I had my G devices connected
and thanks for the links, I'll look into it

Will it give you constant 300Mb connection speeds while on single mode N only as a test?
