Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a better more reliable connection on ps3 playing black ops? Pretty sure I'm double Nat modem to wireless router. Help please!!!
-
Check out the DGL-4500 forum and the ps3 sticky. and where it talks about gamefuel thats the QoS on the dir-655
Let us know if you need some more help.

;)

now also keep in mind that a wired connection for the ps3 is best as the wireless card in it is only a G not N so your speeds wont be as good as if you wire it
-
Even the best wireles connection in the world, is about as good as a wired connection a decade ago. If at all possible, use wired.
-
Yea well I have it wired directly to my router and I followed the instructions and it seems WORSE than before. Sometimes I just randomly get booted off the playstation network, it's crazy!!!!
-
I would have someone get with you on teamviewer.com (http://teamviewer.com) and go over the router settings.
-
Cool, just let me know when because I'm very frustrated right now
-
The chain is only as strong as the weakest link. When you lose the PS3 connection, do other computers in your network drop out? Do a continual ping out (Ping -t google.com from CMD) and then go play. As soon as you lose the connection go back to the computer and see if there was packet loss. If so, I would start by looking at your connection from your ISP and make sure that is solid.
-
Yea well I've called my ISP and we ran a bunch of test including hooking my PS3 directly to my modem without the router and it works like a charm. They told me to call D- link which I did yesterday and the customer service rep had me change a couple of settings and told me to observe the connection for 24 hrs. If those changes didn't help then they would send me a link to update my router to version 2.3 which I have not seen the link as of yet. So I think it's definetly in the router just finding the optimal settings for my gaming is my biggest challenge.

How many game consoles do you have?
I think also setting up some QoS rules for the game console will be the next step.
-
1 console right now my sons ps3 s in the shop.
-
Hmm, well, we could at least have a look at the router settings with you and see how they are doing. The PS would need to be available for setting up QoS more or less. Suppose we don't need it to fully set up the QoS rules. Someone could use a place holder IP address.
-
Ok so what do I need to do? To let you take a look?
-
You online now? PM me at HrdHrry on Yahoo
-
Well I called today and had my firmware updated to 2.03 hope this does some freaking good!!!
-
Updating FW will probably not do much as your QoS needs to be configured for PSN ports. This will get your PSN going.
-
Well I followed the qos instructions what else do I need to do?
-
Get a hold of HardHarry and have him review your router settings for PSN. He plays PSN and has the info to make sure the router is set up for it well.
-
Ok thanks

Was doing some prep work. Looked all through their support site (hello 1998 web design?) and cant find the manual, or any real info at all for the Westell B90-611060-06. All they had was a dead link. Finally had to fall back on my hail marry. Thank you Way back machine.

Looks like they pulled support around 2008. Couple things I noticed is on page 31, it gives a option of bridge mode. Also we will want to disable the DHCP server. But again, a 140 page manual. TT cincityplayer, could you make sure you have the fallowing info? Don't post here though. Just have it on hand.
1. Account ID
2. Account password
3. VPI and VCI
I just watched the automated support video. ::shiver:: I am going to go take a shower now. LOL.

You may want to invest in a different ISP modem too. ::)
-
Yeaaaa..I was going to say that. The instructions latest support is for Windows ME. Thats never a good sign. But I will do what I can.
