I set up a DNS-325 and have now gotten several movies transferred to it fine. Can see them and stream them fine over the network to our computers. However, PS3 sees DNS fine over the network. However, when I open any files supposedly on DNS, says all files are empty. But I know there are several movies on there? We have upgraded FW on DNS to 1.01 and have all PS3 updates. running on Pioneer Elite TV.
Any help GREATLY appreciated as this was bought to back up and watch movies over network to PS3, and now seems to be rather useless!

What file formats are the videos? I believe the PS3 is fairly limited on the types it can play and therefore won't display them...

DLNA works like this. The client device asks for media in a certain format. As an example my TV reads only mpg files. My TV then asks for that format from the server. IF the server transcodes then it should show all the files it can send to my TV in mpg format. IF it doesn't transcode then it should show all the mpg files it can stream to my TV.
At this point the 325 does not transcode.
But don't give up yet.
I just copied all my files to the 325, mapped a drive on my Windows 7 box. Then I added the mapped drive to the video library and made sure the (oddly enough for Microsoft) excellent DLNA server built into Media Player was enabled and presto, video streaming of every format Media Player plays.
Not what I wanted but remember, if the server has to transcode it will reduce quality to keep the frame rate up. In that case I want 4 cores of rendering rather than 1.

There's also an excellent transcoding freeware multi-platform DLNA server called PS3 Media Server (http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/) available! Despite it's name it serves other DLNA clients besides PS3 as well.
