Ok, so what happened is i upgraded the firmware to 1.11 a while ago and the router was working beutifuly. Upgraded to 1.2 a while ago and it was still working Then i saw the newer 1.21 firmwares that let us finaly use the USB port, which is a feature i was hoping would be added. So i upgraded to 1.21. Once the upgrade was complete I noticed the connection seemed to be acting a bit slow. I reset the unit and the problem continued. After reset i found a couple strange values in the settings. MTU had been set at 32000 (cant remember the entire number just that it was in the 32k range) which i thought was screwy. Changed it to 1500 and reset.
Unit came back up, would not give an ip for a long long time, was really slow in accessing. THought screw it and then tried to downgrade back to 1.2 until I could post on here. My mistake. Unit stopped operating after the downgrade. Cannot get into it at all now. Anyone know of a way to help? It is not giving an IP and the ready light stays solid not blink.
Is there a way to TFTP in or any way to force old firmware? USB Stick? Anything?
Anyways since this happened ( i couldnt wait as i had work that needed to be done that afternoon,) i have gotten a DIR 825. But i would love to get the old one working as well as i do have a use for it.

Try doing a complete power cycle with you modem and router.
- Disconnect power from the router first
- Disconnect power from the Modem
- keep both units off for about 2mins
- power up modem (wait a min)
- power up router (wait a min)
- test you connection again

Doesn't the DIR-655 have Recovery Mode if you press/hold the Reset to 40 seconds then you can update the firmware again..

I used to have an a1, had to rma for something similar although I couldn't tag it to a firmware upgrade. I had all the screwy characters though. Like spades, clubs, and circles in some of the fields. I got an a2 in the rma and it's been stable and working well.
