Title: DAP-2553 IGMP snooping support for the Apple Bonjour protocol
Post by: cwork on October 27, 2011, 06:46:59 PM
I have IP multicast on my local LAN so I need the IGMP snooping feature enabled to prevent the IP Multicast from leaking to the wireless clients.  The problem I'm having is that the Apple Bonjour protocol (airplay, print services) uses reserved multicast address 224.0.0.251 and the DAP-2553 won't forward the Bonjour MDNS traffic with IGMP snooping enabled. I have opened a D-link tech support case C05188874, but all they can do is advise their PMs of the problem.  Anybody else affected by this problem?

The DAP-2553 isn't following this section of the IGMP snooping RFC

http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4541
2.1.2.  Data Forwarding Rules
   2) Packets with a destination IP (DIP) address in the 224.0.0.X range
which are not IGMP must be forwarded on all ports.

I have the same exact issue: no Bonjour on wireless clients connected to DAP-2553. Did you find a solution?
