Title: DNS-320 - uPNP file ordering
Post by: wazzag on October 31, 2011, 04:13:06 PM
Hi,

Just received a new DNS-320 (my first ever dlink product!) and have set it up as a RAID 1 media server. I'm using a popcorn hour player via uPNP to play my films and all seems fine.
The only problem is that all of my files are not ordered alphabetically?! Surely this should be the default ordering type?!
I've spent a lot of time naming my files and cant stand them being ordered incorrectly - it's driving me mad!
How can I fix this please?

Many thanks,
wazzag

I would say the popcorn player is reading your NAS drive as a hard drive and not a media server. When a media player reads the NAS drive I've found it won't display alphabetically and music tracks aren't displayed or played in number order.

Hi,
The original firmware 2.0 does not have the proper alpha-numeric file order in the media server.  This was corrected in the 2.02 beta firmware, but Dlink has removed this from there site due to several issues including the fact that once you install 2.02, you cannot return to any of the other firmwares.  I am sure they are working on it, and will have another beta but, they are notorious for slow.........updates.  You might just try using Network shares if possible if that works with your popcorn hour.  Good luck.

Thanks for the replies, looks like i'll look into NAS drive setup or wait for the next update from d-link.

Have same setup and use network share which has advantage that files are immediately available without the PNP thingy having to refresh.
Can confirm 2.02b fixes issue as I have that and its working without issue for me.
